The students worked really hard during our last reading unit by taking on the role of word detectives! Each day, the students practiced new strategies that could help them tackle tricky parts in their books. Some of these strategies include doing a slow check, looking closely at the beginning and ending of the words, breaking off the ending, looking for snap words that we know, and breaking the word apart into pieces. We also thought about what word would look right, sound right, and make sense. Here the students are singing the “theme song” from this unit, Word Busters!
