The first grade classes are studying insects as part of our Animal Diversity science unit. Each class received their own colony of meal worms to observe. The students have been participating in activities revolving around the meal worms. We created homes for the meal worms using oatmeal, and fed them carrots and potatoes. The students are so excited to check on their meal worms when they come to school every morning. We’ve been observing them to see how, or if, they changed from the day before. Some students even gave their meal worms names!
